Ten years ago Mparntwe/Alice Springs based sisters Micaela and Madison moved from Denver, Colorado, with the move signalling the beginning of their musical journey. More specifically, it was an inherited love of The Beatles from their Baba (Grandfather) that lit an unstoppable spark. 

Since then, they’ve smashed NT’s 2020 Battle of the Bands, performed at Music NT’s Live on the Lawn Series,  and somehow still found time to thrive as composers and actors within Australia’s indie film industries in Byron and WA.

A look at romance as a fractured dream,  ‘Scarf’, vibrating with the fuzzy bittersweetness of unrequited love, is the perfect example of The Wanted Gem’s sharp understanding of emotional nuance, and the band’s evolving experimentation with genre.

So far in 2024, the duo have hit the ground running opening for DREGGs in Darwin, and scoring Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist status. ‘Scarf’, their spirited new break-up anthem. is just another reason in a long list of why The Wanted Gems are one of the most exciting names to say out loud right now.
